MASTERING eNGLISH

This approach uses Power of Reading texts and plans (please ensure you have a subscription to this strategy) and incorporates the Talk for Writing process.

For Reception to Y6 there are overview plans for the year to show where lessons are mainly reading based, GPS specific or writing focused. 

Books are mapped out for Reception to Y6 with a core text each half term.  These books have been selected to link to wider curriculum learning.  They have golden threads of: strong female role models; authors from a variety of backgrounds; celebrating difference; and global issues. 

The books are based on recommendations from The Power of Reading so are age appropriate and get progressively more challenging in language and subject matter.  

Each year there is a poetry anthology and a non-fiction text. 

For each half term there is a PowerPoint of resources (saved below as PDFs for ease of use).  These are not a 'click and play' resource or scheme.  They are a starting point for planning and a support to understand the yearly overview plans. 

These documents have been made purely to support teachers.  They are not for any profit.  They will contain errors and may have images that need checking for copyright before use.  

Please use them as intended as a guide to how to sequence your teaching and ideas for supporting learning.
